My 2024 Christmas Horror Reading List

As promised (read ‘My 2024 Christmas Horror Movie List’ if you don’t know what I’m talking about), I’m here to share my Christmas horror reading list for 2024. This list only has six books, so not too long, but I believe that’ll give me more of a chance of completing, especially as I’m also listening to audiobooks (these are just normal Christmas stories. Yes, I like those too, so it’s not all about the horror, lol).
Okay, that’s enough chatter. Let’s get into my Christmas horror reading list.
Slay Ride by L. A. Birchon

Blurb: ‘Twas the night before Christmas and Nish needs to get back to his family home. But the last train out of London has been cancelled and his rail replacement bus has just broken down.
He’s stranded in a snow-bound village pub with a handful of fellow travellers and the inhabitants of Little Slaughter. It’s the annual murder mystery and the tables are made up for visitors.
With a roaring fire and generous hospitality, there’s nothing else to do. They might as well join in the festivities.
But nothing is quite as it seems, and time isn’t the only thing they’ll be killing tonight. A locked-in holiday survival horror with a sense of humour, a perfect fireside read for fans of Grady Hendrix, Joe R Lansdale and James Herbert.

But when Douglas finds an eerie strand of lights slithering through the sewer, he unwittingly unleashes merry terror upon his neighbourhood’s tacky lights contest. String lights spread like invasive kudzu, turning festive decorations into surreal, predatory nightmares.

To Hell with Hallmark by Brad Ricks

Blurb: Welcome to Hallmark, Vermont, the setting for every cliched Christmas dream. Idyllic and picturesque, it’s where real Christmas magic happens.

Everything Is Temporary by Jon Cohn

Blurb: How well do we really know the people sleeping next to us in bed at night?
After a tragedy strikes the Barnes family, Sarah’s husband Tom begins acting strangely. It starts with wild mood-shifts and accusations at their thirteen-year-old daughter, but quickly escalates to the attempted murder of an off-season mall Santa. From what Sarah can tell, Tom’s only motive seems to lie behind a mysterious hatred for Christmas that burns year round. What’s worse, Tom’s only defense lies in a long-forgotten book he wrote detailing a traumatic event in his childhood that seems too far-fetched to be believed. His entire case revolves around the notion of talking Christmas trees, a living army of toys, and worst of all, a monster masquerading as Mrs. Claus.
Now, Sarah must go on a journey into her husband’s past to learn if Tom is in the midst of a psychotic breakdown, if he’s a danger to his family, or if he really is being hunted by the malevolent holiday horror that destroyed his childhood.

So, that’s my Christmas horror book reading list for 2024. My goal is to read all of them, but I’ll be happy if I read at least half.
Let me know in the comments if you plan to read any of these movies or if you have your own recommendations.
That’s all I have for you today. I won’t be posting again until the new year, so I hope you have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year.
