The Parting of Friends by Nicole J. Simms

The Parting of Friends is a 50-word flash fiction. It’s a story about friendship and the dangers of envy. I often write about envy because, for me, it is a poison, which can destroy everything especially relationships.

I originally wrote the story for the Scottish book trust’s July ’50-word contest’. I had to create a 50-word story based on the photo prompt. Sadly, I didn’t win. However, I submitted the story to a website, which published 50-word stories, and the story was accepted.

Story blurb

Rick convinces his friend, Craig, to skip school and hang out at the local drinking spot. Soon enough envy strikes, which results in the parting of friends.

The Parting of Friends can be found on the 50-word Stories website.

Stay spooky, folks!
